Nickel City - Austin, Texas

Looks like a true blue dive bar from outside, and in some ways it is. Nickel City is an unassuming 11th Street cut, boasting title of the 2021 best whiskey selection in all of Austin. This liquor-store-adjacent watering hole has a long yellow wrap around cushion bench with tables which gives the whole bar a cozy vibe. I feel like I could come here on a Sunday afternoon and try a few different bourbon recommendations and watch some football on one of their big projector screens. The bartender was quick and helpful. She even gave me the last of the Angel’s Envy bottle because there was only a bit left. The relaxed vibe combined with the friendly patrons at this place made it feel as though I was a regular. Would definitely come back to Nickel City for a humble hang in the future.
